Brixton Townhouse I

We were asked to redesign and refurbish this beautiful but run-down Victorian property in this vibrant part of south London. Our clients wanted a pared-back, light and neutral look that would be a calming sanctuary from the busy city outside and enable them to exhibit key personal furniture and art pieces.

Working closely with them, we extended the ground floor to create a light and airy open-plan kitchen, reconfigured the first floor to allow for an ensuite bathroom to the master bedroom, converted the loft to add extra space for their growing family, as well as, digging down to create a basement laundry room. The house still had some of its original features, and it was essential to keep these. Using clever joinery, a thoughtful layout, and considered materials gave our clients exactly a look and feel they were after while remaining sympathetic to the house's original style.
